I ❤️ Haikyuu

 The venue that I went to was a Haikyuu pop up shop! Volleyball is my favorite thing ever, and Haikyuu is one of my favorite Anime, so it was super fun. They have a bunch of cool things you can buy (super expensive) and just a lot of special exhibits about the show.

There was a wall full of images similar to this, showing famous and important scenes from matches of different high schools in the anime. My favorite player plays for this school, and I remembered a lot of cool scenes by looking at this display.
This is my favorite character Bokuto! He’s a super strong hitter and one of the best players in the series. He brings a ton of energy to his team, so when I watched Haikyuu in high school, I tried to mimic him and bring that positive energy to my team.
They had a TV playing scenes from the Anime, and it was super fun to watch. This is where I was able to talk to some cool guys who were watching too!
This banner has some of the most popular players from the show. It was really cool to see products of individual players too, because there are die hard fans that just collect merchandise of their favorite characters in Haikyuu.
This is kind of the same thing as the last photo, just some of the most popular characters. The big posters definitely catch people’s eye and makes them excited, drawing them into the store.

Embassy and Dazai

My original plan for this assignment was to visit the embassy since there is a small chance I’ll work there in the future. I went and saw it, but there were policemen everywhere and going inside didn’t seem possible. I was actually a little intimidated by it. Instead, I went with Bridget to several Osamu Dazai landmarks on his birthday! I asked a worker to recommend me one of his books and met a girl from China who spoke English and reads his books. It was interesting to see both young and old people who enjoy his books. I think Dazai would be happy to know how many people are touched by his works. Apple juice from the salon! Visualizing the devastation

 I think that the way that the peace park and museum show the dedication the Japanese people have to remembering those that died or suffered from the bomb while also standing as a firm advocate against nuclear weaponry. Something like the aftermath of war or a bomb as devastating as an atomic bomb is hard to fully understand and conceptualize for a generation that has grown up largely untouched by war. We've learned about these events in our history classes all growing up and learning about it on paper is so much different than seeing the aftermath through the artifacts and exhibitions in the museum. Having things like clothes, a bento box, and other everyday items makes the event more personal. It is no longer just a bunch of numbers on a page, instead it is real stories, pictures, and pieces of past lives.
